Porbeagle fishing close by Vestmanna.
Going out with Magni Blastein from Vestmanna and a great guy from Kvívík for porbeagle shark fishing in the legendary Vestmanna sund in February.
I remember very well the tasty „Schillerlocken“ (smoked shark meat stripes) which came on the table when I was a child.
Today you have to be aware of the quicksilver percentage in the meat and that most of sharks species are on the „red list“. Nevertheless porbeagle are in large numbers around the Faroe Islands and the stocks are healthy since there is no more commercial fishing in its waters.
But - at the end of the day we went home without having caught one.
But we were very close, as can be seen on this YouTube link, taken by a underwater camera on our trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4RsSi6tDOk
